Description

CVE-2026-108063 is a medium severity vulnerability in the libhangul library used by Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10. The flaw occurs when parsing Hanja dictionary files, where the library does not verify that dictionary entries contain valid values alongside their keys. An attacker can supply a specially crafted dictionary file to trigger a NULL pointer dereference, causing an application crash and resulting in a denial of service (DoS).

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in libhangul arises from improper validation of dictionary entries when parsing Hanja dictionary files. Specifically, the library fails to ensure that each entry contains a valid value paired with its key. Exploiting this flaw by providing a maliciously crafted dictionary file can cause a NULL pointer dereference, leading to an unexpected application crash and denial of service. This issue affects Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 5.5, indicating medium severity, with attack vector local, low attack complexity, no privileges required, user interaction required, unchanged scope, no confidentiality or integrity impact, and high availability impact.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation causes an application crash due to a NULL pointer dereference, resulting in denial of service. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity.
