Published: 10/14/2026 (10/14/2026, 06:00:12 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Product: WP Encryption

Description

The WP Encryption WordPress plugin before 7.8.8.2 does not perform a capability or nonce check on one of the handlers that drives its SSL certificate-provisioning routine, allowing unauthenticated users to make the WP Encryption WordPress plugin before 7.8.8.2 overwrite the site's certificate private key and replace its pending Let's Encrypt order and challenge material with a single request. Repeated requests keep regenerating the material, preventing the administrator from completing certificate issuance.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-108064 is a missing authorization vulnerability (CWE-862) in the WP Encryption WordPress plugin versions prior to 7.8.8.2. The plugin fails to perform capability or nonce checks on a handler that manages SSL certificate provisioning, enabling unauthenticated users to overwrite the site's certificate private key and replace pending Let's Encrypt order and challenge data with a single request. This flaw allows repeated requests that regenerate challenge material, effectively blocking administrators from completing certificate issuance.

Potential Impact

Unauthenticated attackers can overwrite the SSL certificate private key and disrupt the certificate issuance process by replacing Let's Encrypt order and challenge materials. This can prevent administrators from successfully obtaining or renewing SSL certificates, potentially causing service disruption or loss of secure HTTPS functionality.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in WP Encryption version 7.8.8.2. Users should upgrade to version 7.8.8.2 or later to remediate this vulnerability. No other mitigation guidance is provided.
