Published: 10/09/2026 (10/09/2026, 14:08:08 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: danielbrendel
Product: hortusfox-web

Description

HortusFox (hortusfox-web) versions up to and including 6.3 have an unrestricted file upload vulnerability in the PlantAttachmentModel component. Authenticated users can upload files with arbitrary extensions to the public attachments directory, including potentially dangerous types such as HTML, SVG, or PHP. This can lead to stored cross-site scripting (XSS) or remote code execution if .htaccess restrictions are not enforced.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-108101 describes an unrestricted file upload vulnerability in hortusfox-web through version 6.3. The flaw exists in the PlantAttachmentModel, allowing authenticated users to upload files with client-supplied extensions to the public/attachments/ directory. Attackers can exploit this to upload HTML or SVG files that enable stored XSS attacks or PHP files that may execute code if .htaccess restrictions are not properly enforced on the server.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows attackers with authentication to upload malicious files that can lead to stored cross-site scripting attacks, potentially compromising user sessions or data. Additionally, if the server does not enforce .htaccess restrictions, attackers can upload PHP files and execute arbitrary code on the server, leading to full system compromise.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict file upload permissions, validate and sanitize file extensions on the server side, and ensure that .htaccess or equivalent restrictions are properly enforced to prevent execution of uploaded files.
