CVE-2026-108361: CWE-367: Time-of-check Time-of-use (TOCTOU) Race Condition in Privasys ra-tls-clients
Description
CVE-2026-108361 is a time-of-check to time-of-use (TOCTOU) race condition vulnerability in Privasys ra-tls-clients before version 0.9.1. The vulnerability allows an attacker with local access to modify workload code, data, and configuration on the TLS endpoint after the connection is established but before it is terminated. This occurs because attestation is performed only once at connection establishment, and the verifying peer assumes the state remains unchanged throughout the connection. The issue is fixed in version 0.9.1.

Technical Analysis
Privasys ra-tls-clients provides utilities for verifying attested TLS connections. Before version 0.9.1, the attestation process occurred only once at the start of the connection. This created a window where an attacker with local access could alter the workload and platform state on the TLS endpoint acting as the Attester after the initial attestation but before connection termination. The verifying peer would continue to trust the initial attestation evidence, which could become stale, leading to a TOCTOU race condition. This vulnerability is addressed by performing attestation in a manner that prevents state changes from going undetected during the connection lifetime.
Potential Impact
An attacker with local access to the TLS endpoint can modify workload code, data, and configuration at runtime after the connection is established, potentially undermining the trust in the attestation process. This could lead to unauthorized changes being undetected by the verifying peer, compromising the integrity of the attested TLS connection.
Mitigation Recommendations
This vulnerability is fixed in Privasys ra-tls-clients version 0.9.1. Users should upgrade to version 0.9.1 or later to remediate this issue. No additional mitigation actions are indicated beyond applying the official fix.
