CVE-2026-108549: Missing Authentication for Critical Function in chenhg5 cc-connect
Description
CVE-2026-108549 is a critical vulnerability in chenhg5 cc-connect up to version 1.5.0. The flaw is a missing authentication check in the MAX platform adapter webhook mode, allowing unauthenticated remote attackers to send forged updates. Attackers can exploit this by reaching the webhook listener on port 8080 and impersonating allowed or admin users to execute privileged commands such as /shell on the host system.

Technical Analysis
The vulnerability exists in the MAX platform adapter webhook mode in the file platform/max/max.go of cc-connect versions up to 1.5.0. When no webhook_secret is configured, the webhook listener on port 8080 accepts updates without authentication. This allows remote attackers to forge updates with elevated user privileges, enabling execution of privileged commands on the host, including shell access. The CVSS 4.0 score is 9.2, indicating a critical severity with network attack vector, high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability, and no required user interaction.
Potential Impact
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows remote unauthenticated attackers to execute privileged commands on the host system, potentially leading to full system compromise. The attacker can impersonate allowed or admin users via the webhook interface, which can result in unauthorized command execution and control over the affected system.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, it is recommended to configure a webhook_secret to enforce authentication on the webhook listener or restrict network access to port 8080 to trusted sources only.
