CVE-2026-108711: Incorrect Authorization in Plastic Labs honcho
Description
Plastic Labs Honcho versions up to 3.3.0 have an incorrect authorization vulnerability that allows API key holders with peer- or session-scoped access to read workspace data they should not access. This occurs because the get_or_create_workspace function only verifies the workspace claim, enabling attackers to submit a parent workspace name to the POST /v3/workspaces endpoint and retrieve sensitive workspace metadata and configuration.

Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-108711 describes an incorrect authorization vulnerability in Plastic Labs Honcho through version 3.3.0. The vulnerability arises because the get_or_create_workspace function only checks the workspace claim, failing to properly restrict access based on API key scope. As a result, API key holders with peer- or session-level scope can submit a parent workspace name to the POST /v3/workspaces endpoint and obtain workspace metadata and configuration data, including custom_instructions, which should be restricted to workspace or admin keys.
Potential Impact
Attackers with peer- or session-scoped API keys can access workspace metadata and configuration data that should be restricted to higher privilege keys. This exposure includes sensitive information such as custom_instructions. The vulnerability does not require user interaction and can be exploited remotely over the network. The CVSS 4.0 base score is 5.3, indicating a medium severity impact.
Mitigation Recommendations
No patch or official fix information is provided in the available data. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict API key distribution to trusted parties and monitor for unusual API usage patterns related to workspace data access.
