Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-108718 describes a missing authorization vulnerability in Rill Data's rill product versions 0.77.0 through 0.90.5. The admin OAuth server issues authorization codes to dynamically registered clients without requiring user consent. Attackers can exploit this by registering a client with the long_lived_access_token scope and luring users to an authorization link, thereby obtaining a non-expiring API token that grants full user permissions.

Potential Impact

An attacker can gain unauthorized, persistent access to user accounts by obtaining a non-expiring API token with full permissions. This compromises user data and potentially the entire system accessible via the API token.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, avoid using affected versions or restrict OAuth client registrations and closely monitor authorization flows to detect suspicious activity.
