Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: quarkiverse
Product: quarkus-langchain4j

Description

Quarkus LangChain4j versions 1.9.0 through 1.14.1 have a vulnerability where memory is not released after its effective lifetime in the chat-scopes WebSocket /_chat/routes endpoint. This allows unauthenticated remote attackers to exhaust server memory by sending repeated CONNECT frames with the same chatId, causing orphaned scopes to accumulate until the JVM exits, which degrades service availability.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-108748 describes a missing release of memory vulnerability in quarkiverse quarkus-langchain4j versions 1.9.0 through 1.14.1. The flaw exists in the chat-scopes WebSocket /_chat/routes endpoint, where unauthenticated remote clients can send repeated CONNECT frames reusing a single chatId. This behavior leaves orphaned scopes in activeScopes that are not cleaned up until the JVM exits, leading to memory exhaustion and degraded availability of the server.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows unauthenticated remote attackers to cause a denial of service by exhausting server memory resources. This degrades the availability of the affected service until the JVM process is restarted. There is no indication of privilege escalation, data disclosure, or code execution.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, consider limiting access to the /_chat/routes WebSocket endpoint or implementing rate limiting to reduce the risk of memory exhaustion from repeated CONNECT frames.
