Published: 10/11/2026 (10/11/2026, 15:31:05 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: docling-project
Product: docling-serve

Description

docling-serve 1.14.0 through 1.36.0 contains a missing authentication vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to access /v1/memory/stats and /v1/memory/counts because they omit the require_auth dependency. Attackers can bypass the configured DOCLING_SERVE_API_KEY to read process and cgroup memory telemetry, object type histograms, and force repeated gc.collect() heap enumeration.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-108749 affects docling-serve versions 1.14.0 through 1.36.0 due to missing authentication on critical endpoints /v1/memory/stats and /v1/memory/counts. The require_auth dependency is omitted, allowing unauthenticated attackers to bypass the DOCLING_SERVE_API_KEY and access memory telemetry data such as process and cgroup memory usage, object type histograms, and to trigger repeated garbage collection heap enumeration via gc.collect().

Potential Impact

An unauthenticated attacker can access sensitive memory telemetry information and force repeated garbage collection operations, potentially leading to information disclosure and performance degradation. The vulnerability does not require user interaction or privileges and has a CVSS 4.0 base score of 6.3 (medium severity). There are no known exploits in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict network access to the affected endpoints and monitor for unauthorized access attempts. Implement additional access controls if possible.
