Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-108863 describes a missing authentication vulnerability in Katanemo Plano through version 0.4.37. The Envoy admin interface is exposed on all host interfaces at port 9901 without authentication, allowing unauthenticated attackers to access sensitive configuration data. Specifically, attackers can request the /config_dump endpoint to read LLM provider API keys in plaintext from the WASM filter configuration, potentially compromising API credentials.
Potential Impact
The vulnerability allows unauthenticated remote attackers to access sensitive API keys configured in the Envoy admin interface. Exposure of these keys can lead to unauthorized use of LLM provider services and potential further compromise depending on the API key privileges. The vulnerability is rated high severity with a CVSS 4.0 score of 8.7, indicating significant risk if exploited.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict network access to port 9901 to trusted hosts only and avoid exposing the Envoy admin interface to untrusted networks.
