Technical Analysis

This vulnerability in EricLBuehler mistral.rs up to version 0.9.3 involves the is_global_ip function in the mistralrs-server-core/src/media_source.rs file. Manipulating the ip argument leads to server-side request forgery, enabling an attacker to induce the server to send crafted requests to arbitrary destinations. The vulnerability is remotely exploitable without authentication. A patch identified by commit cfb8c6a0c42361dc4579a9110b54d339c255b9fd has been released in version 0.9.4 to address this issue.

Potential Impact

An attacker can remotely exploit this vulnerability to cause the server to perform unauthorized requests to internal or external systems. This can lead to information disclosure or interaction with internal services that are not otherwise accessible. The CVSS 4.0 base score is 6.9 (medium severity), reflecting network attack vector, low complexity, no privileges or user interaction required, and limited confidentiality impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade the affected component to version 0.9.4 or later, which contains the official fix for this vulnerability. No other mitigation is indicated or required according to the available data.
