Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-109145 is a vulnerability in the User Rights Access Manager WordPress plugin through version 1.1.3. The plugin does not properly restrict access to one of its AJAX account-registration handlers. As a result, unauthenticated attackers can register new accounts assigned a role that is a copy of the administrator role. This improper privilege management (CWE-269) allows attackers to escalate privileges and take control of the site.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows unauthenticated attackers to create accounts with administrator-equivalent privileges, leading to full site takeover. This compromises the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected WordPress site.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official patch or fix is currently documented. Users should immediately restrict access to the AJAX account-registration handler or disable the User Rights Access Manager plugin until a fix is released. Monitor the vendor advisory for updates and apply any official patches once available.
