Users should monitor vendor advisories for updates. As a temporary mitigation, restrict file uploads and validate file extensions more strictly, especially handling trailing dots in filenames. Consider disabling or restricting the use of Apache modules that map dangerous extensions to executable scripts. Since the vulnerability requires specific server configurations, hardening the server environment may reduce risk.

Description

The Contact Manager plugin for WordPress up to version 9.1.2 contains an arbitrary file upload vulnerability due to improper handling of file extensions. This flaw allows unauthenticated attackers to upload potentially executable files by exploiting a trailing dot in filenames that bypasses extension checks. Successful exploitation can lead to remote code execution on servers running Apache with libapache2-mod-php, though the attack window is limited by file removal at request end.
