Published: 10/12/2026 (10/12/2026, 18:31:48 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: siyuan-note
Product: siyuan

Description

SiYuan versions from 3.1.12 up to but not including 3.8.6 contain a vulnerability in the Sprig template function map used in the /api/icon/getDynamicIcon endpoint. This flaw allows an authenticated publish reader or any user if publish authentication is disabled to invoke uncapped functions such as 'until', leading to resource exhaustion and potential out-of-memory (OOM) kernel crashes.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-109310 describes a resource exhaustion vulnerability in SiYuan note-taking software versions >=3.1.12 and <3.8.6. The issue arises because the Sprig template function map in the /api/icon/getDynamicIcon content parameter is not properly restricted, allowing attackers with publish reader privileges or unrestricted access (when publish auth is disabled) to execute functions like 'until' without limits. This can cause the system to consume excessive resources, resulting in an OOM kill of the kernel with a single crafted request.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation can cause denial of service by exhausting system resources, leading to a kernel out-of-memory kill. This disrupts availability of the affected SiYuan service and potentially the host system. No evidence of privilege escalation or data compromise is indicated.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fixed version of SiYuan is available starting from v3.8.6. Users should upgrade to version 3.8.6 or later to remediate this vulnerability. Until then, restricting access to the /api/icon/getDynamicIcon endpoint and ensuring publish authentication is enabled can reduce risk. Patch status is confirmed by the version range indicating fixed versions from 3.8.6 onward.
