Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: trilbymedia
Product: grav-plugin-git-sync

Description

Grav Git Sync versions 1.0.2 through 3.4.12 contain a command injection vulnerability that allows authenticated content editors to execute arbitrary OS commands. This occurs when malicious input in profile fields is passed to the PHP exec() function via git commit --author, running commands with the web-server's privileges. The vulnerability requires the gravuser or gravfull author mode to be enabled.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-109318 is an OS command injection vulnerability in the trilbymedia grav-plugin-git-sync affecting versions 1.0.2 through 3.4.12. Authenticated users with content editor privileges can inject shell substitutions into profile fields such as username, full name, or email. These inputs are used unsafely in a PHP exec() call through git commit --author, allowing execution of arbitrary OS commands as the web-server user. The flaw is triggered only when gravuser or gravfull author mode is enabled.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an authenticated content editor to execute arbitrary operating system commands with the privileges of the web-server account. This can lead to unauthorized system access, data compromise, or further system compromise depending on the web-server's permissions.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict or disable gravuser and gravfull author modes if possible, and limit authenticated user privileges to trusted users only.
