Critical
Published: 10/12/2026 (10/12/2026, 18:31:49 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: getgrav
Product: grav-plugin-login-oauth

Description

Grav Login OAuth plugin (grav-plugin-login-oauth) before 1.4.3 provisions OAuth accounts as ordinary Grav users with a deterministic <provider>.<id> username and an unsalted MD5 hash of the provider identifier as the password, without disabling password login. Unauthenticated remote attackers who learn or guess a provider identifier can reproduce these credentials and log in, gaining administrative control of privileged accounts.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-109321 affects the Grav Login OAuth plugin (grav-plugin-login-oauth) in versions from 1.0.0-beta.1 up to but not including 1.4.3. The vulnerability arises because OAuth accounts are provisioned as ordinary Grav users with usernames formed deterministically as <provider>.<id> and passwords generated as unsalted MD5 hashes of the provider identifier. Password login is not disabled, enabling attackers who know or guess a provider identifier to reproduce these credentials and log in without authentication, potentially gaining administrative control.

Potential Impact

An unauthenticated remote attacker can gain administrative control over privileged accounts by reproducing weakly generated credentials. This compromises the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected Grav installations.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade the grav-plugin-login-oauth plugin to version 1.4.3 or later where this issue is fixed. The vendor has provided an official fix in version 1.4.3 that addresses the weak credential generation.
