Technical Analysis

The Grav Star Ratings plugin versions 2.0.1 to 2.0.3 contain a missing authorization vulnerability (CVE-2026-109323) where unauthenticated visitors can bypass client-only vote_access and readonly enforcement mechanisms. Attackers exploit the anonymous nonce emitted by the getData() function to submit votes directly to the addVote() function, allowing manipulation of ratings that should be restricted or disabled.

Potential Impact

Unauthenticated attackers can submit unauthorized votes, potentially skewing rating data and undermining the integrity of the rating system. This could affect user trust and the reliability of displayed ratings.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict access to the plugin or disable voting functionality to prevent exploitation.
