Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: continuedev
Product: continue

Description

Continue CLI versions up to and including 1.5.47 contain a permission bypass vulnerability that allows attackers to execute unauthorized commands by chaining them after allowed Bash prefix rules. This occurs because the application appends attacker-injected commands after shell operators such as ;, &&, or |, enabling code execution as the user running the agent.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-109560 affects Continue CLI (@continuedev/cli) through version 1.5.47. The vulnerability is an incorrect authorization flaw where attackers can bypass permission checks by chaining unapproved commands after allowed Bash prefix rules. By injecting instructions into repository files or fetched pages, the attacker causes the agent to append these commands after shell operators like ;, &&, or |, resulting in arbitrary code execution with the privileges of the user running the agent.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an attacker to execute arbitrary commands as the user running the Continue CLI agent, potentially leading to unauthorized actions within the environment where the agent operates. This can compromise system integrity and confidentiality depending on the user's privileges.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, avoid running the Continue CLI agent in untrusted environments or with elevated privileges, and carefully validate any repository files or fetched pages processed by the agent to prevent injection of malicious commands.
