CVE-2026-109561: Incorrect Authorization in aaif-goose goose
Description
CVE-2026-109561 is an authorization bypass vulnerability in the aaif-goose goose software versions from 1.28.0 up to but not including 1.44.0. The flaw allows tools to run without user approval in Manual Approval mode due to persisted read-only annotations not being cleared properly. This enables prompt-injected calls to execute without prompting the user after a session uses Smart Approval mode, bypassing the intended approval mechanism.

Technical Analysis
The vulnerability in aaif-goose goose (versions >=1.28.0 <1.44.0) arises because persisted read-only annotations (readOnlyHint: true) are never cleared by the update_goose_mode function. When a session switches to Smart Approval mode, calls to tools annotated with readOnlyHint: true can execute without user prompts, even if the user has selected Manual Approval mode. This results in an authorization bypass where tools run without explicit user consent in Manual Approval mode, violating the expected permission inspection process in PermissionInspector::inspect.
Potential Impact
The impact is a low-severity authorization bypass that allows execution of tools without user approval in Manual Approval mode. This could lead to unintended tool execution but requires user interaction (UI prompt) and has low complexity for exploitation. There are no indications of privilege escalation, data loss, or system compromise beyond bypassing the approval prompt.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, users should be aware of the risk when using Manual Approval mode after sessions with Smart Approval mode. No official fix or patch links are provided in the current data.
