Description

CVE-2026-109628 is a missing authorization vulnerability in Frappe ERPNext versions before 15.121.0 and 16.x before 16.34.0. Certain endpoints do not enforce proper role checks when modifying record status, allowing authenticated low-privileged users to alter data beyond their permissions. This compromises data integrity within the affected ERP system.

Technical Analysis

Frappe ERPNext versions prior to 15.121.0 and 16.x prior to 16.34.0 contain a missing authorization vulnerability in specific endpoints responsible for modifying record status. These endpoints fail to enforce adequate role-based access controls, enabling authenticated users with low privileges to invoke these endpoints and modify data they should not have access to. This flaw undermines the integrity of data managed by the ERP system.

Potential Impact

Authenticated attackers with low privileges can exploit this vulnerability to modify data beyond their authorized roles, potentially leading to unauthorized data changes and compromising the integrity of business-critical information within the ERP system.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade Frappe ERPNext to version 15.121.0 or later, or 16.34.0 or later, where this missing authorization vulnerability has been addressed. Patch status is confirmed by the affected version ranges. No additional mitigation steps are indicated.
