Technical Analysis

Frappe ERPNext versions prior to 15.121.0 and 16.x prior to 16.34.0 contain an SQL injection vulnerability caused by improper neutralization of special elements in SQL commands. This allows authenticated attackers with high privileges to send crafted requests to vulnerable endpoints, resulting in unauthorized SQL injection and potential data leakage from the database.

Potential Impact

An attacker with authenticated high privileges can exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary SQL commands on the backend database, potentially leading to unauthorized disclosure of sensitive information stored in the database. This could compromise confidentiality of data managed by ERPNext.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Users should monitor the official Frappe ERPNext advisories for updates and apply any official patches once available. Until then, restrict high privilege access and review input validation controls on affected endpoints.
