Description

CVE-2026-109651 is a server-side request forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in Frappe ERPNext. It affects versions before 15.112.0 and 16.x before 16.23.0. The vulnerability arises from a configuration field writable by common operational roles that allows setting arbitrary outbound request destinations without validation. This enables authenticated attackers to make the server send requests to internal network addresses that are otherwise inaccessible externally.

Technical Analysis

Frappe ERPNext versions prior to 15.112.0 and 16.x prior to 16.23.0 contain an SSRF vulnerability due to a configuration field that can be modified by authenticated users with operational roles. This field accepts arbitrary outbound request destinations without proper validation, allowing attackers to cause the server to issue requests to internal network hosts reachable only from within the deployment environment. The vulnerability has a CVSS 4.0 base score of 5.3, indicating medium severity.

Potential Impact

Authenticated attackers with operational role privileges can exploit this vulnerability to make the ERPNext server send arbitrary requests to internal network addresses. This could potentially be used to access internal services or resources not exposed externally. However, there is no indication of privilege escalation, remote code execution, or data exfiltration directly from this vulnerability. No known exploits are reported in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in Frappe ERPNext versions 15.112.0 and 16.23.0 and later. Users should upgrade to these versions to remediate the vulnerability. Until patched, restrict operational role permissions to trusted users only and review configuration fields that control outbound request destinations to prevent misuse.
