Description

Frappe ERPNext versions before 15.111.0 and 16.x before 16.22.0 contain a privilege escalation vulnerability. Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-109667 is a privilege escalation vulnerability in Frappe ERPNext affecting versions prior to 15.111.0 and 16.x prior to 16.22.0. The vulnerability arises from a record-creation endpoint that accepts the record type from the request and inserts the record without enforcing permission checks. This allows any authenticated user, regardless of their assigned roles, to supply a privileged record type and create privileged accounts, thereby taking full administrative control of the ERPNext site.

Potential Impact

An attacker with any authenticated access can escalate privileges by creating privileged accounts, resulting in full control over the ERPNext site. This compromises the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the system and its data.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in versions 15.111.0 and 16.22.0. Users should upgrade to these or later versions to remediate the vulnerability. Since this is not a cloud service, manual patching is required. Patch status is confirmed by the affected version ranges indicating fixed versions.
