Technical Analysis

This vulnerability involves a race condition in the Networking component of Mozilla Firefox that can lead to sandbox escape. The sandbox is a security mechanism designed to isolate processes and limit the impact of exploits. The race condition flaw undermines this isolation, potentially allowing malicious code to execute outside the sandbox. Mozilla fixed this vulnerability in Firefox 158 and Firefox ESR 153.5.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation could allow an attacker to escape the sandbox environment, potentially increasing the scope of compromise beyond the browser's restricted context. No known exploits in the wild have been reported at the time of publication.

Mitigation Recommendations

Mozilla has released official fixes for this vulnerability in Firefox 158 and Firefox ESR 153.5. Users and administrators should update to these versions or later to remediate the issue.
