CVE-2026-109954: Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition') in parse-community parse-server
Description
Parse Server 5.4.0 before 8.6.96 and 9.0.0 before 9.10.2-alpha.5 shares transactional batch state across concurrent requests, letting any client's transactional batch request interfere with other clients' database writes. On PostgreSQL or MongoDB replica sets and sharded clusters, other clients' acknowledged writes are rolled back if the batch fails, and PostgreSQL transactions can remain open indefinitely, causing subsequent writes to fail.

Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-109954 describes a race condition vulnerability in parse-community's parse-server where transactional batch state is improperly synchronized across concurrent requests. Affected versions share this state, enabling interference between clients' database writes. This leads to rollback of other clients' acknowledged writes on PostgreSQL or MongoDB replica sets and sharded clusters if a batch fails. Additionally, PostgreSQL transactions can remain open indefinitely, causing subsequent write operations to fail. The CVSS 4.0 score is 8.3, indicating high severity.
Potential Impact
The vulnerability can cause data integrity issues by rolling back acknowledged writes from other clients, potentially resulting in data loss or inconsistency. On PostgreSQL, open transactions may block further writes, causing availability problems. This affects multi-tenant environments using concurrent transactional batch requests, impacting database reliability and application stability.
Mitigation Recommendations
A fix is available in parse-server versions 8.6.96 and 9.10.2-alpha.5 and later. Users should upgrade to these or newer versions to resolve the race condition. No other mitigation guidance is provided, so patching is the recommended action.
