Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-109982 is a missing authorization vulnerability (CWE-862) in the MB Custom Post Types & Custom Taxonomies WordPress plugin prior to version 2.12.2. The plugin fails to perform capability checks or validate nonces on its migration actions. As a result, any authenticated user can trigger a one-way migration process that creates published records and irreversibly deletes the entire post-type and taxonomy configuration managed by the plugin.

Potential Impact

An attacker with any authenticated user privileges, including subscriber-level access, can exploit this vulnerability to cause permanent deletion of the plugin's post-type and taxonomy configurations. This can disrupt site functionality and cause data loss related to custom post types and taxonomies.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade the MB Custom Post Types & Custom Taxonomies plugin to version 2.12.2 or later, where this authorization issue has been addressed. No other mitigation is indicated. Patch status is confirmed by the version boundary in the affectedVersions field.
