Technical Analysis

This vulnerability involves a use-after-free condition in the WebRTC implementation of Google Chrome versions prior to 149.0.7827.53. Exploitation requires user interaction (visiting a malicious HTML page) and could lead to arbitrary code execution within the sandbox environment. The CVSS 3.1 vector indicates network attack vector, low attack complexity, no privileges required, user interaction required, unchanged scope, and high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Although no official remediation level is stated, the fixed version is 149.0.7827.53.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code inside the sandboxed environment of the browser, potentially compromising confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system. The vulnerability requires user interaction but no privileges or authentication. No known active exploits have been reported.

Mitigation Recommendations

Users and administrators should update Google Chrome to version 149.0.7827.53 or later to remediate this vulnerability. The vendor advisory indicates this version contains the fix. No additional mitigation steps are specified by the vendor.
