Published: 10/14/2026 (10/14/2026, 14:16:45 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: tomolt
Product: libschrift

Description

A divide by zero vulnerability exists in libschrift through version 0.10.2. This flaw allows attackers to crash applications by supplying a crafted TrueType font with unitsPerEm set to 0 in the head table. The vulnerability involves NaN glyph coordinates bypassing clip_points(), leading to an out-of-bounds raster read in draw_line() during sft_render(), which causes the process to crash.

Technical Analysis

libschrift versions up to and including 0.10.2 contain a divide by zero vulnerability triggered by a crafted TrueType font with unitsPerEm of 0 in the font's head table. The crafted font's NaN glyph coordinates bypass the clip_points() function, resulting in an out-of-bounds raster read in draw_line() during the sft_render() function. This leads to a crash of the affected application.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation causes application crashes due to divide by zero and out-of-bounds memory reads. There is no indication of code execution or privilege escalation. The impact is denial of service (application crash).

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance.
