Published: 10/14/2026 (10/14/2026, 14:17:16 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: adamarcanov
Product: compress-fonts

Description

The adamarcanov compress-fonts package before version 1.1.1 contains an OS command injection vulnerability. This flaw arises because font file paths are interpolated unquoted into a FontForge command executed via child_process.execSync, allowing attackers to execute arbitrary shell commands by supplying font files with crafted names. The vulnerability has a high severity rating with a CVSS 4.0 score of 8.5.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-110648 is an OS command injection vulnerability in the @offactory/compress-fonts package versions before 1.1.1. The vulnerability occurs because font file paths are inserted without proper quoting into a FontForge command executed through Node.js's child_process.execSync. This allows an attacker to craft font file names containing shell metacharacters, which are then executed with the privileges of the Node.js process running the package.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an attacker to execute arbitrary shell commands on the host system with the privileges of the Node.js process running compress-fonts. This can lead to system compromise, data loss, or further attacks depending on the environment and privileges.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade to version 1.1.1 or later of @offactory/compress-fonts where this vulnerability is fixed. Patch status is confirmed by the affectedVersions data indicating versions before 1.1.1 are vulnerable. No vendor advisory is provided, so check the official project repository or vendor channels for the patch.
