AI-suggested
Users should monitor the vendor's announcements for updates. Until a fix is available, avoid using the affected plugin versions or remove the [meta_data_filter_results] shortcode from published pages and posts to prevent script execution. Implementing web application firewalls (WAF) with XSS protections may help mitigate exploitation risk.
Description
The MDTF – Meta Data and Taxonomies Filter WordPress plugin versions up to and including 1.4.1 contain a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability via the 'vars' parameter. This vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to inject malicious scripts that execute when users access pages containing the plugin's [meta_data_filter_results] shortcode. The flaw arises from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping.
