Published: 10/14/2026 (10/14/2026, 22:52:19 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: n8n-io
Product: n8n

Description

n8n versions before 1.123.83 have an authorization bypass vulnerability that allows shared-workflow editors to access credentials they should not have permission to use. This is achieved by embedding restricted credentials in nested or inline sub-workflows, which then execute with the workflow owner's credential values.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-110844 describes an authorization bypass in n8n prior to version 1.123.83. Shared-workflow editors can embed restricted credentials within nested or inline sub-workflows (using Workflow Tool or Workflow Retriever definitions). These sub-workflows execute with the workflow owner's credential permissions, allowing unauthorized access to credentials that the editor should not have. This vulnerability affects versions from 0 up to but not including 1.123.83.

Potential Impact

Attackers with shared-workflow editor privileges can bypass intended credential access restrictions, potentially leading to unauthorized use of sensitive credentials. This could result in unauthorized actions performed under the workflow owner's identity, increasing risk of privilege escalation within the n8n environment.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade n8n to version 1.123.83 or later, where this authorization bypass vulnerability has been fixed. There is an official fix available in this version. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the update.
