Published: 10/14/2026 (10/14/2026, 22:52:23 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: n8n-io
Product: n8n

Description

CVE-2026-110848 is a prototype pollution vulnerability in n8n versions before 1.123.83, 2.x before 2.41.4, and 2.42.x before 2.42.1. The flaw exists in the AI workflow builder, where authenticated users can create nodes named __proto__ via the API and trigger the connect-nodes operation to modify the global object prototype. This can disrupt the n8n instance until it is restarted.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in n8n arises from improper handling of object prototype attributes during the merging of workflow connections in the AI workflow builder. Specifically, node names are used as object members without validation against reserved keys. Authenticated users can exploit this by creating a node named __proto__ and invoking the connect-nodes operation, leading to prototype pollution of the global object. This manipulation can cause disruption of the n8n instance's normal operation until a restart occurs.

Potential Impact

An authenticated user can exploit this vulnerability to pollute the global object prototype, which disrupts the n8n instance's functionality until it is restarted. The disruption may affect the stability and reliability of the affected n8n instance but does not indicate remote code execution or data exfiltration based on the provided data.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in n8n versions 1.123.83 and later, 2.41.4 and later, and 2.42.1 and later. Users should upgrade to these versions to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are indicated in the provided data.
