CVE-2026-110850: Incorrect Authorization in n8n-io n8n
Description
CVE-2026-110850 is an authorization vulnerability in n8n versions before 2.41.4 and between 2.42.0 and before 2.42.1. The flaw arises because the software does not properly validate credential IDs stored in agent node parameters when an editor saves a shared workflow, only checking the node's credentials field. This allows an editor to configure a Message an Agent node in inline mode to use tools they control to access the owner's credentials and send decrypted secrets to an attacker-controlled destination.

Technical Analysis
The vulnerability in n8n occurs due to improper validation of credential IDs in agent node parameters during the saving of shared workflows. The check only inspects the node's credentials field, missing credential IDs stored elsewhere. An editor with limited privileges can exploit this by configuring a Message an Agent node in inline mode to leverage tools under their control to resolve the owner's credentials and exfiltrate decrypted secrets to an attacker-chosen endpoint. This issue affects n8n versions >=0 and <2.41.4, and >=2.42.0 and <2.42.1.
Potential Impact
An attacker with editor privileges can obtain the owner's credentials and send decrypted secrets to an attacker-controlled destination. This compromises the confidentiality of sensitive information stored as credentials within n8n workflows. The vulnerability has a CVSS 4.0 score of 7.2, indicating a high severity impact with network attack vector, low attack complexity, and partial privileges required.
Mitigation Recommendations
A fix is available in n8n versions 2.41.4 and 2.42.1. Users should upgrade to these versions or later to remediate the vulnerability. There is no indication that temporary mitigations or workarounds exist. Applying the official patch is the recommended action.
