Published: 10/15/2026 (10/15/2026, 18:57:35 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: ansilove
Product: libansilove

Description

A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability exists in libansilove versions 1.3.0 through 1.4.2 in the ansilove_xbin() function. This flaw can cause applications to crash when processing a specially crafted XBIN file that sets the 512-character flag without the custom-font flag, leading to a NULL pointer being dereferenced in drawchar().

Technical Analysis

libansilove versions 1.3.0 through 1.4.2 contain a NULL pointer dereference vulnerability in the ansilove_xbin() function. An attacker can supply a crafted XBIN file that sets the 512-character flag without the custom-font flag, causing the drawchar() function to index a NULL high_font_data_xbin pointer. This results in a crash of the affected application.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows an attacker with local access to cause a denial of service by crashing applications that use libansilove to process malicious XBIN files. There is no indication of code execution or data corruption beyond process termination.
