Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: aous72
Product: OpenJPH

Description

OpenJPH through 0.32.0 contains a heap out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the HTJ2K cleanup-pass decoder that allows attackers to corrupt memory via one-row codeblocks. Attackers can supply a crafted .j2c or .jph codestream with small precinct sizes, causing the decoder to write a second row past the codeblock buffer, resulting in memory corruption and crashes.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-111151 is a heap out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the HTJ2K cleanup-pass decoder of OpenJPH through version 0.32.0. The issue arises when processing one-row codeblocks with small precinct sizes in crafted .j2c or .jph codestreams, causing the decoder to write a second row past the codeblock buffer. This results in memory corruption and potential crashes of the application.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation can cause memory corruption and application crashes. There is no indication of privilege escalation or remote code execution in the provided data. The CVSS 4.0 score is 6.9 (medium severity), reflecting the potential for denial of service or instability but limited attack vector (local) and no known exploits in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a patch is available, avoid processing untrusted .j2c or .jph codestreams with small precinct sizes in affected versions of OpenJPH.
