Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Wohlstand
Product: libADLMIDI

Description

libADLMIDI 1.6.2 through 1.6.2.1 contains an off-by-one stack out-of-bounds write vulnerability in BW_MidiSequencer that allows attackers to corrupt stack memory via crafted MIDI files. Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-111161 is an off-by-one stack out-of-bounds write vulnerability in Wohlstand's libADLMIDI library versions 1.6.2 through 1.6.2.1. The vulnerability exists in the BW_MidiSequencer module and can be exploited by supplying a crafted MIDI file containing a note-on event with status 0x9F and note 0x7F via the adl_openFile() or adl_openData() functions. This leads to corruption of stack memory, which may cause the hosting application to crash.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation results in stack memory corruption, leading to denial of service via application crash. There is no indication of privilege escalation or code execution. The attack requires local access to supply crafted MIDI files and user interaction to open the file.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a patch is available, avoid opening untrusted or suspicious MIDI files with affected versions of libADLMIDI.
