Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: GNU
Product: LibreDWG

Description

GNU LibreDWG versions up to 0.14.8612 contain an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the AcDs decoder function acds_private(). This flaw allows attackers to read beyond a static table by supplying a specially crafted DWG file with a large 'schdat' property type value. The vulnerability can cause applications using LibreDWG, such as dwgread or dwg2dxf, to crash. The issue has a medium severity rating with a CVSS score of 6.9.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-111167 is an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in GNU LibreDWG through version 0.14.8612. The flaw exists in the AcDs decoder's acds_private() function, where an unchecked schema property type index allows reading beyond a static table. Attackers can exploit this by crafting R2004 or R2010+ DWG files with a large 'schdat' property type value, causing applications that use LibreDWG to crash.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability can cause denial of service by crashing applications that process maliciously crafted DWG files using LibreDWG. There is no indication of privilege escalation, code execution, or data disclosure beyond the out-of-bounds read. No known exploits are reported in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, avoid processing untrusted DWG files with affected versions of LibreDWG or applications that embed it.
