Published: 10/15/2026 (10/15/2026, 21:43:20 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: selmf
Product: unarr

Description

unarr versions up to and including 1.1.1 contain a heap-based out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the zip_parse_extra_fields() function due to an incorrect ZIP64 extra field length check. This flaw can be triggered by a crafted ZIP archive with specific sentinel values and a truncated ZIP64 record, potentially causing a process crash.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-111274 is a heap-based out-of-bounds read vulnerability in unarr through version 1.1.1. The issue exists in the zip_parse_extra_fields() function within zip/parse-zip.c, where an incorrect length check for the ZIP64 extra field allows an attacker to supply a malicious ZIP archive containing 0xFFFFFFFF sentinel values and a truncated ZIP64 record. This crafted input can cause the function to read beyond the allocated heap buffer, leading to a crash of the process using the library.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability can cause a denial of service by crashing the process that parses the malicious ZIP archive. There is no indication from the provided data that this vulnerability leads to code execution or data leakage.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, avoid processing untrusted ZIP archives with unarr versions up to 1.1.1.
