Vendor/Project: data-infra
Product: cube-studio

Description

CVE-2026-111671 is an authorization bypass vulnerability in data-infra cube-studio versions up to 2026.09.01. Authenticated users can exploit insecure direct object references by manipulating sequential IDs to stop, reset, clear, or redeploy other users' notebooks and services. This can lead to deletion of pods and disruption of production inference endpoints.

Technical Analysis

Cube-studio through version 2026.09.01 contains an insecure direct object reference vulnerability that allows authenticated users to perform unauthorized lifecycle operations on other users' notebooks and services by passing sequential IDs to lifecycle endpoints in view_notebook.py, view_inferenceserving.py, and view_serving.py. This enables attackers to delete pods and take production inference endpoints offline, impacting availability.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows authenticated users to disrupt other users' notebooks and services by stopping, resetting, clearing, or redeploying them without proper authorization. This can cause denial of service by deleting pods and taking production inference endpoints offline, potentially impacting business-critical machine learning inference operations.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to authenticated users who require it and monitor usage of lifecycle endpoints for suspicious activity.
