Published: 10/16/2026 (10/16/2026, 18:34:49 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Thecosy
Product: IceCMS

Description

IceCMS through 4.1.5 contains a missing authentication vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to modify, delete, or disable any account because /User/** is excluded from the Shiro jwt filter. Attackers can send PUT requests to /User/updateUser to set a new password and role on any userId, including administrators, enabling full account takeover.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-111673 describes a missing authentication vulnerability in Thecosy IceCMS through version 4.1.5. The /User/** endpoints are excluded from the Shiro JWT filter, which normally enforces authentication. As a result, unauthenticated attackers can send PUT requests to /User/updateUser to modify user accounts, including setting new passwords and roles for any userId, such as administrators. This flaw allows attackers to fully compromise accounts without prior access.

Potential Impact

An unauthenticated attacker can fully take over any user account, including administrative accounts, by modifying passwords and roles. This leads to complete system compromise, unauthorized access, and potential control over the IceCMS installation.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the /User/** endpoints through network controls or web application firewalls to prevent unauthenticated access. Monitor for suspicious PUT requests targeting user modification endpoints.
