CVE-2026-111679: Missing Authorization in EKKOLearnAI ekko-studio
Description
Ekko Studio versions up to 0.7.36 have a missing authorization vulnerability that allows any authenticated user without super_admin privileges to list and clear server-wide login lockouts. This is exploitable via the /api/auth/locked-ips endpoint, where sending a DELETE request without specifying an IP address triggers unlockAll(), effectively disabling the login rate limiter. This can facilitate password guessing attacks against super_admin accounts.

Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-111679 describes a missing authorization vulnerability in Ekko Studio (up to version 0.7.36) where authenticated non-super_admin users can access the /api/auth/locked-ips endpoint to list and clear login lockouts. By sending a DELETE request without an IP parameter, attackers invoke the unlockAll() function, disabling the login rate limiter and potentially enabling brute force attempts on super_admin accounts. The vulnerability has a CVSS 4.0 base score of 5.3, indicating medium severity.
Potential Impact
The vulnerability allows authenticated users with limited privileges to disable login rate limiting for all IPs, undermining protections against brute force password guessing on high-privilege super_admin accounts. This could increase the risk of unauthorized access if attackers successfully guess credentials.
Mitigation Recommendations
No patch or official fix information is provided. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict authenticated user permissions to prevent unauthorized access to the /api/auth/locked-ips endpoint or implement additional monitoring and controls around login attempts.
