Published: 10/16/2026 (10/16/2026, 18:34:55 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: nduckmink
Product: arkon

Description

Arkon through 0.9.2 contains a broken access control vulnerability that allows authenticated employees to read and modify other departments' sources because by-id routes in app/routers/sources.py skip can_access_document. Attackers can call the plan, progress, PATCH, retry and approve-extraction routes with foreign source IDs to disclose derived wiki titles and summaries and alter ingestion state.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-111716 describes a broken access control vulnerability in Arkon through version 0.9.2. The issue arises because by-id routes in app/routers/sources.py do not enforce the can_access_document check. As a result, authenticated employees can invoke various routes such as plan, progress, PATCH, retry, and approve-extraction with source IDs belonging to other departments. This allows disclosure of derived wiki titles and summaries and unauthorized modification of ingestion state.

Potential Impact

Authenticated users with legitimate access can bypass intended access restrictions to read and modify data from other departments. This could lead to unauthorized disclosure of sensitive information and unauthorized changes to ingestion processes within the application. The CVSS score of 5.3 reflects a medium severity impact with network attack vector and low privileges required.

Mitigation Recommendations

No patch or official fix information is provided in the available data. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict authenticated user permissions carefully and monitor for unauthorized access attempts to sensitive routes.
