Published: 10/17/2026 (10/17/2026, 18:46:35 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: go-vikunja
Product: vikunja

Description

Vikunja versions from 0.13.0 up to but not including 2.7.0 have an incorrect authorization vulnerability. This flaw allows project members with Write permission to delete admin-level link shares due to improper permission checks on share deletion. Attackers can exploit this by sending DELETE requests with sequential share IDs to revoke admin shares and invalidate share sessions.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-111921 describes an incorrect authorization vulnerability in Vikunja versions >=0.13.0 and <2.7.0. The vulnerability arises because the delete permission check reads an unloaded share object, permitting project members with Write permission to delete admin-tier link shares. Exploitation involves sending DELETE requests to the v1 or v2 project shares endpoints with sequential share IDs, enabling attackers to revoke admin links and invalidate existing share sessions.

Potential Impact

Attackers with Write permission on a project can revoke admin-level link shares, potentially disrupting administrative access and invalidating existing share sessions. This could lead to denial of access for legitimate admin users relying on those shares. The CVSS score of 5.3 (medium severity) reflects the moderate impact and ease of exploitation without user interaction.

Mitigation Recommendations

No explicit patch or remediation information is provided. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict Write permissions carefully and monitor share deletion activities.
