Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-111956 describes an information exposure vulnerability (CWE-200) in the WholesaleX WordPress plugin prior to version 3.0.9. The plugin fails to protect or remove the user-import file stored in a publicly accessible directory under a predictable name. As a result, unauthenticated attackers can access and download sensitive user data such as account passwords and customer contact and address information from the most recent import file.

Potential Impact

Exposure of sensitive user data including passwords and personal contact details can lead to privacy violations, unauthorized account access, and potential identity theft. Since the file is accessible without authentication, any attacker can retrieve this information without needing credentials.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade the WholesaleX plugin to version 3.0.9 or later where this issue is fixed. If upgrading is not immediately possible, restrict access to the directory storing user-import files or remove these files promptly after import to prevent unauthorized access. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed in the input data, but the versioning indicates the issue is fixed in 3.0.9.
