Published: 10/18/2026 (10/18/2026, 12:30:28 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Netcore
Product: NR256CN

Description

Netcore NR256CN devices up to version 1.5.140116 have an unauthenticated file write vulnerability in the embedded Boa web server. This flaw allows remote attackers to write arbitrary content to temporary files used for firmware updates and configuration restores by sending POST requests to non-existent .cgi paths. Exploitation can lead to tampering with pending firmware updates or configuration restores, or cause denial of service.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-112016 describes an unauthenticated file write vulnerability in the Boa-derived /bin/boa web server component of Netcore NR256CN firmware versions up to 1.5.140116. Attackers can remotely send POST requests to non-existent .cgi endpoints, resulting in arbitrary content being written to /tmp/boa_temp.update or /tmp/boa_temp.para. These files are staging locations for firmware updates and configuration restores, so manipulation can disrupt device operation or compromise update integrity.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows unauthenticated remote attackers to overwrite critical staging files related to firmware updates and configuration restores. This can lead to denial of service by corrupting these processes or potentially tampering with firmware or configuration data, impacting device availability and integrity.

Mitigation Recommendations

No patch or official fix information is provided in the available data. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict network access to the device's management interface to trusted sources to reduce exposure.
