Published: 10/19/2026 (10/19/2026, 13:55:13 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: risingwavelabs
Product: risingwave

Description

RisingWave versions before 3.1.0 have a missing authorization vulnerability that allows low-privileged SQL users with schema CREATE privilege to read and write arbitrary server files. This is achieved by creating posix_fs sources and fs sinks and setting posix_fs.root or fs.path to any directory, potentially exposing sensitive credentials and keys or enabling unauthorized file writes.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-112262 describes a missing authorization vulnerability in RisingWave prior to version 3.1.0. Attackers with schema CREATE privilege can exploit this flaw by creating posix_fs sources and fs sinks, then setting posix_fs.root or fs.path to arbitrary directories. This allows them to read and write arbitrary files on the server, including sensitive credentials and keys, without proper authorization controls.

Potential Impact

An attacker with low-privileged SQL access and schema CREATE privilege can read and write arbitrary files on the server hosting RisingWave. This can lead to exposure of sensitive information such as credentials and keys, and unauthorized modification or creation of files with potentially severe security consequences.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in RisingWave version 3.1.0. Users should upgrade to version 3.1.0 or later to remediate this vulnerability. No other mitigation guidance is provided in the input data.
