CVE-2026-112308: Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) in crewAIInc crewai-tools
Description
crewai-tools up to version 1.15.28 contains a server-side request forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in its SeleniumScrapingTool component. This flaw allows attackers to bypass URL validation and fetch internal resources, including loopback, RFC1918, or cloud metadata addresses. The vulnerability arises because the validate_url private-address check is never applied. Attackers can exploit this by influencing agent tool input through prompt injection, potentially disclosing internal data and cloud credentials. The vulnerability has a high severity with a CVSS 4.0 score of 8.3.

Technical Analysis
The SSRF vulnerability in crewAIInc's crewai-tools (versions up to 1.15.28) exists in the SeleniumScrapingTool, which fails to apply the validate_url private-address check. This allows attackers who can influence the agent tool input via prompt injection to direct headless Chrome to access internal network resources such as loopback interfaces, RFC1918 private IP ranges, or cloud metadata endpoints. Exploitation can lead to disclosure of sensitive internal data and cloud credentials. The vulnerability is publicly known and assigned CVE-2026-112308 with a high CVSS 4.0 score of 8.3.
Potential Impact
Successful exploitation enables attackers to perform SSRF attacks that disclose internal network resources and sensitive cloud metadata, potentially leading to leakage of internal data and cloud credentials. This can compromise the confidentiality of internal systems and cloud environments.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict untrusted input to the SeleniumScrapingTool and implement network-level controls to prevent unauthorized access to internal and cloud metadata endpoints.
