AI-suggested
Upgrade Wazuh agents to version 4.14.9 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation or workaround is indicated by the vendor. Since this is a local log file processing issue, restricting write access to monitored snort-full logs may reduce risk but is not a substitute for patching.
Description
A stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability exists in Wazuh agent versions from 1.0.0 up to but not including 4.14.9 in the logcollector snort-full log reader. The flaw occurs due to miscalculation of remaining buffer space in the read_snortfull() function, allowing crafted multi-line log content to overflow a 65,280-byte stack buffer. This can cause the agent to crash or overwrite the SEH handler on 32-bit Windows agents running as SYSTEM.
