Published: 10/19/2026 (10/19/2026, 21:36:29 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: craftcms
Product: cms

Description

Craft CMS versions from 5.8.0 up to but not including 5.11.0 contain a remote code execution vulnerability. Authenticated administrators can exploit this flaw by injecting Yii behaviors via a JSON-string field layout to ContentBlock::setFieldLayout(). This allows attackers with the allowAdminChanges setting enabled to bypass cleanseConfig() and execute operating system commands as the web user, potentially disclosing sensitive information.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-112774 is a remote code execution vulnerability in Craft CMS affecting versions >=5.8.0 and <5.11.0. The vulnerability arises because authenticated administrators can supply a JSON-string field layout to ContentBlock::setFieldLayout() that includes 'as X' or 'on X' keys. These keys bypass the cleanseConfig() function, enabling injection of Yii behaviors that execute OS commands as the web user. This can lead to unauthorized command execution and disclosure of secrets if the allowAdminChanges configuration is enabled.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows authenticated administrators to execute arbitrary operating system commands with the privileges of the web user. This can lead to full compromise of the affected system, including disclosure of sensitive information and potential further system control.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in Craft CMS version 5.11.0 and later. Users should upgrade to version 5.11.0 or newer to remediate this vulnerability. Until patched, disabling the allowAdminChanges setting can reduce the attack surface by preventing attackers from exploiting this vulnerability.
