AI-suggested

Upgrade tox-dev filelock to version 4.2.1 or later where this issue is fixed. Avoid using shared writable directories for lock files to reduce exposure. No other mitigation is required as the fix addresses the root cause.

Description

A TOCTOU race condition vulnerability exists in tox-dev filelock versions from 3.20.4 up to but not including 4.2.1 on Windows. The issue involves the ReadWriteLock and AsyncReadWriteLock using SQLite database files in a way that allows a local attacker with write access to a shared directory to cause lock acquisition failures or trigger SQLite recovery file deletions. This requires a directory writable by another account, such as a shared temporary directory, and does not affect private directories. The vulnerability is fixed in version 4.2.1.
